- AWOL- ON is a hiking club for Phoenix College. Our mission is to expose to students the multiple benefits of the great outdoors. We look at nature as an interactive and participatory situational concept which offers us evidence of our own existence. Primarily, our strategy for acquiring new information about our complex surroundings is binary. First, we will incorporate passive learning tools to gain more profound understandings of the environs; and second, we will investigate first-hand those scientific observations by placing ourselves within the context.
